New opportunities for cellulosic residual flows

New opportunities for cellulosic residual flows

The National Carbon Market (in Dutch abbreviated as NKM) will come into effect next year. The production by Recell of cellulose from complex residual flows is therefore suddenly rewarded with CO2 certificates. Hence, it will be extra tempting for owners of residual flows to recover the cellulose.

National counterpart European Trade System
The NKM works just like the European Trade System (ETS). Both markets work with CO₂ certificates, the price of which is determined by buyers and sellers. For the time being, the NKM is still a market in which parties are not obliged to participate. All organizations that want to reduce their CO₂ emissions can register their projects at the National Carbon Market. This makes the NKM the national equivalent of the European ETS.

Contributions with exactly calculated tons of CO₂
With these new CO₂ certificates, buyers can demonstrate that they really contribute to reducing the CO₂ gap in the Netherlands. Because it concerns precisely calculated tons of CO₂, they can prove how much they indirectly further improve their environmental performance. Organizations can also present their own CO₂-reducing projects and thus capitalize on the CO₂ reduction. If you buy the CO₂ certificates on the National Carbon Market, you contribute directly to the success of national green projects.

Analysis of residual flows
Many companies have temporarily given up hope considering their complex residual flows or they do not realize that new technologies have been developed. As a result, they miss out on the opportunity to extract raw materials from these residual flows. For cellulose from complex residual flows, Recell Group has the R&D and technology under one roof. If you knock on our door, it will not take long to find out whether the extraction of cellulose is technologically and economically feasible and how many CO₂ certificates this entails.

Technology and market knowledge under one roof
Recell’s R&D makes its knowledge and expertise available to any organization. This way our customers know how much cellulose is in the residual flows and whether this raw material is economically recoverable. What helps here is that the Recell Group is also very well acquainted with the sales market. Often much more is possible than organizations might think and persistent waste becomes a valuable raw material. With internationally recognized LCA software, Recell can also calculate the CO₂ footprint of the product or the residual flow.

On top of that, it saves on landfill or incineration costs, which are becoming increasingly expensive. And that immediately results in savings on expenses. Read more about this new form of service provided by the Recell Group. Read more  about the new market in the Netherlands for CO₂ certificates.
